About me
My name is Maria Martinez and I'm studying Fine Art at the University of the West of England - UWE Bristol.
For me, everything started when I was just in kindergarten. My days would be spent singing, dancing, painting, making bread and climbing every tree in the garden. After kindergarten, I went to the Music Conservatory where I graduated after 11 years of playing the flute. However, that was not enough so I continued to explore what art could mean and what it could actually be. So, at the age of 18 I decided to have my first ballet class - everything became much clearer. I learned that my body could be like a painting in constant movement. I could find new shapes, invent new forms and create new textures. I was drawing infinite lines with my body.
My journey is not over, and I believe it won’t be over even after I die. Now is the perfect time to give body to all the forms, shapes and textures my body wants to create. I want to keep developing my artistic sensibility and dive deeper into the meaning of “art”.
